Hydrangea Kit - Helpful Stitching References for Beginners

We’ve put together a few helpful tips and a curated reference video to support you as you stitch. Practice new stitches on scrap fabric, start with 2 strands for better control, and allow a little time for each stitch to feel comfortable. For dimensional stitches like cast-on, a milliner needle can make wrapping easier.

✨ Quick Tips for This Kit

Practice first (recommended)

  • Practice new stitches on scrap fabric
  • Start with 2 strands of floss while practicing
  • Some stitches may take 1–2 relaxed hours to feel comfortable
  • Once it clicks, stitching usually becomes much easier

Needle tip (optional)

  • For wrapped or dimensional stitches (like cast-on), some stitchers find a milliner (straw) needle easier to use
  • A regular embroidery needle works too — use what feels best

If a stitch feels tricky

  • Go slowly — tension matters more than speed
  • Let the needle and thread untwist occasionally
  • Loosen wraps slightly if the needle won’t pass through

Gentle reminder

  • You’re building skill with every stitch
  • Your work doesn’t need to look exactly like any example to be beautiful
